Max Verstappen has revealed that medical advice was the reason behind his absence from the FIA’s annual prize-giving gala in Uzbekistan.
The Red Bull driver explained that doctors instructed him not to travel to Tashkent, where the ceremony was held, as he continues to recover from illness.
As a result, the four-time Formula 1 world champion was unable to attend the event marking the official crowning of Lando Norris as the 2025 world champion.
Verstappen’s health issues also forced him to withdraw from an esports sim-racing finale that was scheduled to take place in Madrid.
The Dutchman’s absence from both high-profile events underlined the seriousness of the doctors’ guidance, with his recovery taking priority over public appearances.
