Ralf Schumacher says he is happy to see Lando Norris clinch the 2025 Formula 1 drivers’ championship, describing the achievement as fully deserved after an intense season-long battle. The former F1 driver praised Norris’ growth and composure under pressure, noting how far the McLaren star has come.
However, Schumacher believes Norris is unlikely to ever replicate the level of success achieved by Max Verstappen. In his view, Verstappen’s career has been shaped by a unique combination of extraordinary talent, ruthless consistency, and the perfect environment at Red Bull.
The 2025 season was decided by the finest of margins, with Norris and Verstappen separated by just two points after 24 Grands Prix and six Sprint races. Norris secured his maiden world title with 423 points, while Verstappen narrowly missed out on a fifth straight championship with 421.
Schumacher highlighted that while Norris proved he can beat Verstappen over a single season, sustaining that dominance year after year is a different challenge altogether. Verstappen’s ability to extract maximum performance every weekend is what, in Schumacher’s eyes, truly sets him apart.
Ultimately, Schumacher sees Norris’ title as the start of an impressive career rather than the beginning of a Verstappen-like era. He suggests Norris can become a regular title contender, but matching Verstappen’s historic run of championships would require circumstances that rarely align in Formula 1.
