Jacques Villeneuve has identified a defining point in Lando Norris’ 2025 campaign that, in his view, marked the McLaren driver’s transformation into a genuine championship winner.
Norris went on to become the 35th different Formula 1 driver to claim a world title, sealing the championship after mounting an impressive comeback over the course of the season.
Entering the year, the Briton was widely tipped as the favourite, and he initially lived up to expectations by taking victory in the opening race in Melbourne.
Despite that strong start, Norris’ momentum stalled as the season progressed, with a challenging first half preventing him from adding to his win tally for several races.
It was not until the Monaco Grand Prix that Norris returned to the top step of the podium, a moment Villeneuve believes signalled a crucial shift in mentality that ultimately carried him to the championship.
