The familiar saying that money cannot buy happiness is playfully challenged in Netflix’s upcoming action-comedy Cashero. The story follows Kang Sang-woong, also known as Junho, an ordinary man who suddenly gains the chance to become a hero, only to discover that his powers come with a very real and costly downside.
In a dramatic scene, coins spill onto the floor as Sang-woong shows off his immense strength, bending metal exercise bars with his bare hands. His girlfriend, Kim Min-sook, played by Kim Hye-joon, is visibly shocked by the superhuman display unfolding in front of her.
Rather than feeling empowered, Sang-woong is troubled by what he learns next. His strength is directly linked to his money: the more cash he spends, the stronger he becomes, leaving his bank balance to shrink with every use of his abilities.
This unusual condition makes him reluctant to step in as a hero. Each good deed forces him to weigh helping others against the risk of losing the financial security he has worked hard to build.
Min-sook adds to his hesitation by reminding him of their future plans, including their wedding and saving for a home. She urges him to stop using his powers, advice Sang-woong readily accepts, knowing that every heroic act comes straight out of his own pocket.
