Max Verstappen has been credited with helping keep the 2025 championship battle exciting, especially for McLaren, after delivering a stunning surge in form during the latter half of the season. His dramatic turnaround brought renewed pressure to the title fight that had earlier seemed firmly in McLaren’s grasp.
Throughout the first part of the year, Verstappen and Red Bull struggled to match the pace of their rivals, allowing McLaren to build a seemingly comfortable lead. But once the summer break ended, Verstappen found his rhythm and began clawing back crucial points.
His string of strong performances reignited the championship race, preventing McLaren from cruising to the finish. With each victory and podium, Verstappen forced Lando Norris and McLaren to respond, adding intensity to the closing rounds of the season.
Despite the incredible revival, Verstappen ultimately fell just short of securing what would have been his fifth world title in a row. The late-season push wasn’t enough to completely overturn the gap that had built earlier in the year.
Even so, many in the paddock acknowledged his role in keeping the title fight alive. Verstappen’s relentless charge ensured the championship went down to the wire, offering fans one of the most gripping finales Formula 1 has seen in recent seasons.
