Actor Kim Soo-hyun has officially begun defending himself against allegations connecting him to the late actress Kim Sae-ron, calling the claims entirely fabricated. The controversy centers on accusations made by YouTuber Kim Sae-ui, who claimed Kim had a relationship with the actress when she was underage. Kim’s legal team has since denounced the allegations as baseless and damaging to his reputation.
In a video released by his lawyer Kho Sang-rock, titled “Official stance on the GaroSero case — fabricated evidence, distorted truth,” the defense laid out a detailed rebuttal to the rumors. Kho argued that the so-called “evidence” circulating online had been deliberately manipulated to mislead the public and frame the actor unfairly. The lawyer emphasized that the photographs being used to support the claims were actually taken when both individuals were adults, not during Kim Sae-ron’s teenage years.
Kho described the accusations as part of a larger pattern of misinformation propagated by the GaroSero Institute, a YouTube channel known for its sensational content. He labeled the case a “nationwide fraud crime,” suggesting it was designed to exploit public sentiment for views and profit. The statement also hinted that the spreading of false information had caused severe emotional distress and reputational damage to Kim Soo-hyun.
As the case gains attention, public opinion has begun to shift in Kim’s favor. Many online users now question the credibility of the sources behind the scandal, noting inconsistencies and the lack of verifiable evidence. Supporters have also called for stronger action against false reporting and defamation in the entertainment industry.
Kim’s legal team stated that they will pursue every legal avenue to clear his name and hold those responsible accountable. The actor, one of South Korea’s most prominent stars, remains determined to prove his innocence and restore his public image after what his lawyer describes as a malicious smear campaign built on lies.
