Lewis Hamilton has firmly rejected claims that Ferrari’s early decision to halt aerodynamic development on its 2025 car had any negative psychological effect on the team. Despite a difficult campaign, the seven-time world champion insisted that morale and mindset within the Scuderia were not undermined by the strategic call.
Ferrari team principal Fred Vasseur had revealed late in the season that development of the SF-25 was effectively stopped as early as April. The move was made to redirect resources toward preparing for the sweeping technical regulation changes set to arrive in 2026.
While Ferrari chose a long-term focus, its main rivals adopted a different approach. McLaren, Red Bull, and Mercedes continued to introduce significant upgrades throughout the season, allowing them to gain momentum as Ferrari’s on-track competitiveness gradually declined.
As a result, Ferrari slipped down the pecking order and eventually finished fourth in the constructors’ championship. The lack of development left the team struggling to keep pace with rivals who consistently improved their cars over the course of the year.
However, Hamilton dismissed suggestions that the strategy damaged confidence or belief within the team. He maintained that Ferrari remained united and focused, viewing the decision as a calculated investment in future success rather than a surrender of the 2025 campaign.
