Ford has made it clear that its commitment to Formula 1 with Red Bull is not tied to the future of Max Verstappen. According to Ford Racing global director Mark Rushbrook, the manufacturer’s long-term plans in the sport will remain unchanged regardless of any potential driver movements.
Rushbrook stressed that Ford is fully confident in its partnership with Red Bull and understands that driver line-ups naturally evolve over time. He explained that changes behind the wheel are part of Formula 1’s cycle and do not dictate the company’s broader involvement.
However, he also acknowledged that Ford’s philosophy is rooted in competitiveness. The American brand only wants to compete at the sharp end of the grid, a level of performance that Red Bull is expected to maintain as the new regulations approach.
Remaining at the front will be important not just for success, but also for retaining top-tier talent. While Verstappen is currently central to Red Bull’s dominance, Rushbrook suggested that performance, rather than any individual driver, is the true foundation of the project.
Ultimately, Ford’s message was that its alliance with Red Bull is built on shared ambition and confidence in the team’s structure. Verstappen’s presence is valued, but it is not a condition for Ford continuing its Formula 1 journey with Red Bull.
