Lewis Hamilton’s partnership with Ferrari is stronger than it appears to outsiders, according to a senior figure within the team. Despite speculation and scrutiny surrounding his first season in red, Ferrari insiders insist the reality behind the scenes is far more positive.
Matteo Togninalli, Ferrari’s head of track engineering, dismissed the notion that Hamilton is struggling to integrate. He stressed that external perceptions often exaggerate difficulties, saying the situation looks far worse from the outside than it actually is.
Togninalli highlighted how challenging it is for any driver to switch teams, especially for someone like Hamilton, who spent more than a decade with Mercedes. Adapting to new systems, personnel, and working methods naturally takes time, regardless of experience or success.
He also emphasised that Hamilton’s vast knowledge and professionalism are valuable assets for Ferrari. Rather than friction, Togninalli described a relationship built on mutual respect and a shared desire to improve performance.
While results may not yet reflect it, Ferrari remains confident that Hamilton’s integration is progressing well. The team believes patience will pay off, and that the strength of the relationship will become more visible as time goes on.
