Derby County Academy midfielder Harry Hawkins has confirmed an extension to his loan at National League North side Alfreton Town. The 19-year-old initially joined the club at the end of October for a one-month deal.
Hawkins, who is versatile enough to play in midfield or at full-back, will remain with Alfreton until early January 2026. The loan provides him with valuable first-team experience, as he continues to get regular playing time.
Earlier this season, Hawkins also spent time on loan at Bedford Town, while last term he enjoyed a successful promotion-winning spell with AFC Telford United. These moves have helped him steadily build his senior football credentials.
During the summer, Hawkins trained with Derby’s first team and even scored a stoppage-time equaliser in a pre-season friendly against Matlock Town. He has also been involved in two EFL Trophy matchday squads in previous seasons, in addition to his consistent appearances for the Under-21s and Under-18s.
Hawkins becomes the third Derby Academy player recently to extend a non-league loan, joining team-mates Harley Price (Gloucester City) and Lennon Wheeldon (South Shields), as the club continues to focus on developing young talent through senior match experience.
