Former Arsenal star Emmanuel Petit has suggested that Chelsea goalkeeper Robert Sanchez may soon be replaced, hinting that the club could already have a successor lined up.
Sanchez, who joined Chelsea from Brighton for a £25million transfer fee two-and-a-half years ago, has had an up-and-down spell at Stamford Bridge.
In his early days at the club, Sanchez struggled to cement himself as the undisputed first-choice goalkeeper. During this time, other keepers such as Kepa Arrizabalaga, Djordje Petrovic, and Filip Jörgensen were given chances to impress.
Despite these challenges, the 28-year-old has gradually established himself under Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca, earning the manager’s trust and becoming the team’s preferred option between the posts.
Currently, Sanchez is enjoying a strong run of form, arguably his best since joining Chelsea, though Petit’s warning suggests that his position may still be under threat if the club decides to bring in a replacement.
