A talented British cake artist has created a jaw-dropping life-sized sculpture of Michael Jackson made entirely from edible materials. The six-foot-tall masterpiece, modeled after the King of Pop’s iconic Thriller era look, has stunned fans worldwide for its lifelike accuracy. Crafted by 55-year-old Emma Jayne Morris from Aberdare, South Wales, the edible sculpture stands as a heartfelt tribute to the late superstar, nearly 16 years after his passing.
Morris, a mother of three, spent three intensive weeks constructing the edible artwork, working up to 15 hours a day. She sculpted Jackson’s head using Rice Krispies and marshmallows as a base, then shaped his face with modeling chocolate. To achieve an astonishing level of detail, she hand-painted his eyes with sugar paste and layered features as if building a real skull. The result is a strikingly realistic figure that captures the performer’s distinctive features and charisma.
The artist used over 40 kilograms (about six stone) of sugarpaste to complete the sculpture, which stands supported by a steel frame and polystyrene core. Morris explained that the structure was necessary to prevent the cake from spoiling before its public display. Every element, from Jackson’s hair texture to the folds in his clothing, was handcrafted to perfection. The process, she said, became an “obsession” as she poured her passion and admiration for the late musician into every detail.
The masterpiece will be showcased at the prestigious Cake International exhibition, taking place at Birmingham’s NEC starting October 31. The timing, Morris noted, is fitting, as the event coincides with Halloween — perfectly aligning with the Thriller theme that made Jackson’s music video one of the most iconic in pop culture history. She described the project as both a creative challenge and a personal homage to an artist she has adored since childhood.
“I’ve always loved Michael Jackson — he was a genius and a true inspiration,” Morris shared. “It just made sense to create the King of Pop, especially for a show opening on Halloween.” Her spectacular creation has already attracted widespread attention online, with fans and baking enthusiasts praising it as one of the most extraordinary edible tributes ever made to a music legend.
