Paul McCartney is set to share a new chapter of his legendary career with the release of an upcoming documentary titled Man on the Run. Scheduled for February 25, 2026, the film will premiere in select cinemas and stream globally on Amazon Prime Video. It chronicles McCartney’s journey after the breakup of The Beatles, focusing on how he rebuilt his musical life by forming Wings with his late wife, Linda McCartney.
In the newly released trailer, McCartney reflects on the uncertainty he faced after The Beatles ended. He recalls asking himself how he could possibly follow one of the greatest musical legacies in history. Feeling isolated yet determined, he found strength by turning inward and starting anew, assembling a fresh band from scratch. His words in the trailer capture both his vulnerability and his resilience during that period.
Amazon MGM, the studio behind the project, describes Man on the Run as an exploration of McCartney’s creative rebirth and perseverance. The film will include never-before-seen footage and rare archival material that reveal the emotional and artistic challenges he confronted while shaping his post-Beatles identity. Viewers will get a close, human look at one of music’s most iconic figures redefining himself in a changing world.
The nearly two-hour documentary is directed by Morgan Neville, the acclaimed filmmaker known for 20 Feet from Stardom and Piece by Piece. It marks a new collaboration between McCartney, Universal Music Group, and Amazon, which will also include exclusive releases of related music and merchandise tied to the film. Neville’s direction promises to offer a fresh and deeply personal portrayal of McCartney’s evolution as a solo artist.
Coinciding with the documentary, McCartney will release a companion book titled Wings: The Story of a Band on the Run on November 4. Together, the book and film aim to celebrate not just his musical legacy, but also the courage it took to begin again after the end of The Beatles—an era-defining story of creativity, resilience, and reinvention.
