Guenther Steiner has offered his assessment of Liam Lawson’s 2025 Formula 1 campaign, highlighting the steady progress the young driver made as the season unfolded. After a turbulent start to the year, Lawson gradually found his rhythm and began to show the potential many had expected.
The season did not begin smoothly for Lawson, as his exit from Red Bull left him needing time to rebuild confidence and consistency. The disruption meant his early races were about adaptation rather than results, with performances that hinted at promise but lacked tangible rewards.
Returning to Racing Bulls provided Lawson with a familiar environment, yet success was not immediate. It took until the eighth round of the championship in Monaco for him to finally open his points account, underlining how challenging the first phase of his comeback proved to be.
From that point onward, however, Lawson’s form improved significantly. As the season moved into its latter stages, he became a regular points contender, delivering more assured drives and extracting stronger results from the car.
Over the final two-thirds of the campaign, Lawson accumulated 34 points, a return that caught Steiner’s attention. The former team principal compared his development to that of past drivers he has worked with, suggesting Lawson’s trajectory reflects a racer who learns quickly and grows stronger with experience.
