Liam Lawson has opened up about the most important lesson he took from the 2025 Formula 1 season, admitting that learning to control his emotions was a major challenge. The young driver described the year as mentally demanding, especially during moments he found “extremely frustrating.”
The 2025 campaign marked Lawson’s first full season in Formula 1, and it proved to be a mix of promising highs and difficult lows. He acknowledged that the intensity of the sport often tested his patience and focus, forcing him to mature quickly under pressure.
Lawson began the season at Red Bull alongside reigning world champion Max Verstappen, a huge opportunity that came with enormous expectations. However, the pressure of performing at a top team added to the emotional strain he experienced early in the year.
After just two races, Lawson was moved out of Red Bull and sent to Racing Bulls, with Yuki Tsunoda taking his place. The sudden swap was a tough setback and played a key role in shaping his mindset and approach for the rest of the season.
Reflecting on the experience, Lawson believes the difficulties ultimately helped his development as a driver. By learning not to let emotions dictate his performance, he feels better prepared to handle future challenges in Formula 1.
