Toto Wolff has offered his view on when rising star Kimi Antonelli might secure his first Formula 1 world championship. The Mercedes boss discussed the teenager’s long-term potential and how the team plans to manage his development.
Speaking on the Beyond the Grid podcast, Wolff explained that Mercedes is already mapping out Antonelli’s path toward becoming a title contender. He stressed that the team is prepared to give the young Italian the time he needs to grow into a championship-calibre driver.
Wolff noted that Antonelli, at just 19 years old, is still years away from reaching his competitive peak. He suggested a window of roughly three to five years as the period in which Antonelli should be expected to challenge seriously for the drivers’ crown.
The team principal emphasized that patience will be essential as Antonelli matures, both as a driver and within the Mercedes environment. He believes the long-term approach will place the youngster in the best position to fight for major honours.
While projecting Antonelli’s future, Wolff also highlighted George Russell’s potential. He made it clear that when Mercedes delivers a title-worthy car, Russell is fully capable of leading a championship battle from the front.
